Distorted thinking---what does that even mean?

Google says the following: giving a misleading or false account or impression; misrepresented.

AHH!!---Does this hit home for anyone?

It does for me!

Believe it or not but people like to give a presentation of what they THINK the person across from them may want. In hopes to be appeasing or be liked by the individual, they alter their TRUE SELF.

But after time passes, that presentation soon feels---- just like that---- a presentation. Why? Because the person presenting probably did not intend on developing a rapport or a relationship. So now they must figure out—HOW DO I LET THE REAL ME OUT??

Instead of just being honest and saying “hey I was misleading you in the beginning,” you know what they do---- they try to keep both lives, alive! This is where distorted thinking really gets birth!

Let me just say…DO you know how many people present themselves to be something they are not? (ITS SO COMMON)-------I have done it!! The reason I have done it is because I was guarding the real me—to avoid disappointment, rejection and even hurt. But when you do this and get use to doing this, you are still experiencing those exact things---but you are doing it to your true self. You are disappointing your true self, you are rejecting your true self, and you are hurting your true self.

The more you push your true self to the back burner to appease those in front of you the longer your thinking stays distorted. You will see the world and the people in it, deformed, bent, and twisted out of shape—simply because you think that way.

How do you change distorted thinking??—first take accountability and be honest…the rest will follow!
